Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should be Reading.  Everyone is invited to play along.  Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • Be careful not to include spoilers!
  • Share the title and author as well so that others can add the book to their To Be Read list!

Right now I am reading Einstein Must Die by Chris Kohout.  It is a new steampunk sci-fi thriller.  So far I am enjoying it.  Check out the teaser and synopsis below:

In one day he’d gone from toiling in a ditch to witnessing the pinnacle of human inventiveness. He realized he was mostly right earlier. God may not be cruel, but He did have a sense of humor.

Synopsis:  Author Chris Kohout weaves deeply researched historical figures (Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Winston Churchill) with fanciful technology and creates a rich story of war, betrayal and the melding of man and machine.

The novel opens in 1910 AD. Impending war with England has given Nikola Tesla the chance to build his dream: a weapon to end all wars. The American steam-powered Beowulf tank is larger than a house, and carries enough firepower to face an army. Beowulf also has a mechanical brain, embedded with the consciousness of Colonel Browning, America’s best military strategist.

But in England, King George has put Albert Einstein to work for his own war effort: zeppelins capable of reaching the former colony, and new, radiological bombs to remind them of the price of disloyalty. When two brilliant pacifists wield technology to bring peace to a planet at war, the final outcome will surprise them both, and the world.

  1. Linda says:

    This one sounds good. Enjoy!

  2. Can Albert Einstein make his weapon or do the pacifists put a stop to it all? Great teaser 😉

    • Thanks! It is my first steampunk sci-fi novel and I am enjoying it. Oh, and let me know when you have finished The Wronged Sons. I would love to get your take on it. ~Deanna

      • I’m not sure it is my type of thing but maybe I need to be a bit more adventurous! I think The Wronged Sons it is a couple of books down the list – but I will compare notes once I get there I’m really looking forward to it! 🙂
