WWW Wednesdays August 28, 2013

Posted: August 28, 2013 in Book Review

W.W.W. Wednesdays is a weekly event brought to you by MizB from Should Be Reading.  To play along, answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you are going to read next?

Here is my WWW for August 28, 2013:

What are you currently reading?  I am reading I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak and loving it!

From Goodreads:  Ed Kennedy is an underage cabdriver without much of a future. He’s pathetic at playing cards, hopelessly in love with his best friend, Audrey, and utterly devoted to his coffee-drinking dog, the Doorman. His life is one of peaceful routine and incompetence until he inadvertently stops a bank robbery.

That’s when the first ace arrives in the mail.

That’s when Ed becomes the messenger.

Chosen to care, he makes his way through town helping and hurting (when necessary) until only one question remains: Who’s behind Ed’s mission?

What did you recently finish reading?  I just finished reading The Runaway King by Jennifer A. Nielsen.  See my review here.

From the Goodreads:  Just weeks after Jaron has taken the throne, an assassination attempt forces him into a deadly situation. Rumors of a coming war are winding their way between the castle walls, and Jaron feels the pressure quietly mounting within Carthya. Soon, it becomes clear that deserting the kingdom may be his only hope of saving it. But the further Jaron is forced to run from his identity, the more he wonders if it is possible to go too far. Will he ever be able to return home again? Or will he have to sacrifice his own life in order to save his kingdom?

What do you think you are going to read next?  I am going to try AGAIN to read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King.  I started reading this before The Runaway King but started to get “creeped out” so put it down.  I am determined to pick it back up as it looks too good to DNF.

From the Publisher:  The world had teeth and it could bit you with them anytime it wanted.  Trisha McFarland discovered this when she was nine years old.  At ten o’clock on a morning in early June, she was sitting in the back seat of her mother’s Dodge Caravan, wearing her blue Red Sox batting practice jersey (the one with 36 GORDON on the back) and playing with Mona, her doll.  At ten thirty she was lost in the woods.  By eleven she was trying not to be terrified, trying not to let herself think, This is serious, this is very serious.  Trying not to think that sometimes when people get lost in the woods they got seriously hurt.  Sometimes they died.

Tell me about your WWW’s!

I have I Am The Messenger on my TBR pile. I so glad you’re enjoying it! 🙂

    • You will not be disappointed. More than a few times I laughed out loud, and in the next few heartbeats, thought I was going to cry. I checked this one out from the library, but will probably head over to my favorite used book store and purchase it as a forever book.
