Friday Finds – August 9, 2013

Posted: August 9, 2013 in Friday Finds

Friday Finds is a weekly event hosted by Should Be Reading, where you can discuss books that you’ve discovered over the course of the week and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list. They can be books that are new or used.  They can be ones that you’ve borrowed (library or friend), found online, heard about from a friend, etc.  Below are my finds…

tithe

From the Publisher:   Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad.  Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother’s rock band until an ominous attack forces Kaye back to her childhood home.  There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms – a struggle that could very well mean her death.

king

From the Publisher:  When betrayal lurks around every corner, a king is forced to flee his throne.  Will he ever come home again?  This is the sequel to The False Prince.

dome

From the Publisher:  On an entirely normal, beautiful day, a small town is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field.  Planes crash into it and rain down flaming wreckage.  A gardener’s hand is severed as the dome descends.  Cars explode on impact.  Families are separated and panic mounts.  No one can fathom what the barrier is, where it came from, and when – or if – it will go away.  Now a few intrepid citizens, led by an Iraq vet turned short-order cook, face down a ruthless politician dead set on seizing the reins of power under the dome.  But their main adversary is the dome itself.  Because time isn’t just running short.  It’s running out.

vampirates

From the Publisher:  Twins Connor and Grace never dreamed that there was any truth to the Vampirates shanty their father sang to them before he died, but that was before the two were shipwrecked and separated from each other in the deadliest of waters.  For Connor, who is taken aboard a pirate ship, there is the chance to learn to sword fight, but for Grace, aboard a mysterious ship of Vampirates, the danger is great.  The twins want to find each other more than anything, but their time is limited and they’re an ocean apart.
